NEW HOME FOR REPAIRS - The $5.1 million Fuel System Maintenance/Corrosion Control Facility was dedicated at Hickam Air Force Base in February. The facility provides hanger space for two fighter aircraft, shop spaces and administrative offices. Hawaii Air National Guard personnel can now repair aircraft corrosion in a controlled environment rather than having the F-15s exposed to the elements. Hawaii Air National Guard photo

Governor's Kilohana Awards for Outstanding Volunteerism - Guard family members, Senior Master Sgt. Irving Yoshino (left) and Jo Anne Yamamoto were recognized for their volunteerism at the Kilohana awards ceremony held at Washington Place in May. The award was created by Gov. Benjamin J. Cayetano to recognize and honor those deserving individuals and groups who help to improve the lives of others through community service. Yoshino, 154th Wing, business division, was nominated for coordinating the wiring of local area network and Internet access of Royal Elementary School. Yamamoto, State Team head volunteer for Hawaii National Guard Family Program, adult division, was nominated for her work with the program. She also volunteers at Castle High School and Ko' olau Boy Scout Troop 216.
