The State of Hawai’i, Department of Defense (HIDOD) is over 6,000 individuals strong and led by a director called The Adjutant General. HIDOD includes five divisions: the Hawai’i Army National Guard, the Hawai’i Air National Guard, the Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency, the Office of Veterans’ Services and Civilian Military Programs.

Hawai’i Army National Guard (HIARNG)
The HIARNG provides manned, trained and equipped units that can respond to any national contingency ranging from war and peacekeeping missions to responding to natural disasters.

Hawai’i Air National Guard (HIANG)
The HIANG provides organized, trained units, Airmen, and Guardians that can respond to any national contingency ranging from war and peacekeeping missions to responding to natural disasters.

Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA)
HIEMA plans for and responds to both natural and human-caused emergencies.
Office of Veterans’ Services (OVS)
OVS is the principal state office responsible for the development and management of policies and programs related to veterans, their dependents, and/or survivors.

Civilian Military Programs (Civ-Mil)
Civ-Mil leverages the skills and resources of the HIDOD with the community to empower civil-military relationships:
