Check Six – 2013: Henry Chang

MSgt Henry “Uncle” Chang passed away on October 13, 2013. Henry had some medical challenges in his last few years. He was a retired loadmaster with the 204th Airlift Squadron.

Henry started HIANG career in maintenance complex and later cross trained to become a flight engineer. He was one of the original members of the 204th Airlift Squadron when the first C-130A Hercules arrived.

In civilian life, he worked with the Honolulu Fire Department, in the Fire One helicopter section.

On July 14, 2016, the 204th Airlift Squadron delivered the inaugural air drop on the newly named Drop Zone Uncle. The drop zone, located on the island of Hawaii at the Pohakuloa training area is named in honor of one of the 204th’s very own, the late MSgt Henry “Uncle” Chang.
