Taps: Joseph “Joey” Tavares Jr.

Joseph “Joey” Tavares Jr., 64, of Hilo, a security supervisor with Aloha Security, a former employee at Hilo Rice Mill and a Hawaii Army National Guard veteran, died in Hilo Medical Center on August 7, 2016. He was born in Hilo.

He is survived by son Justin; daughters Jolena A. and Kristen N. Tavares, and Letitia B. Alameda; brother Robert; hanai brother Rob Landgraf; sisters Darlyn Conrad, Danette Tavares and JoNelle Tavares; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation: 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 7 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
