These photographs are from CMSgt Harry Awana’s technician retirement. The luncheon was in the late 1980s. He had long career in the maintenance complex with many achievements along the way. His last position was the head of maintenance control.
Harry was about to become the Hawai‘i Air National Guard’s first Senior Enlisted Advisor. The position later evolved into a Command Chief Master Sergeant position. He retired as a technician because the position was a traditional billet.
The Chief served for many years in the Royal Guard and became the Kapena Moku (Captain) later in his tenure.
Harry passed away in 2000 at age 63.
Special Thanks to Harry’s brother Douglas Awana for sharing these family photographs.
