This photograph shows Brian Koga and Leighton Sui at the 2005 Christmas tree trimming event at the State Headquarters. At this annual event, the full-time employees of the Headquarters decorate the Christmas tree with ornaments they bring to the ceremony. A small luncheon usually follows the tree trimming.
In recent years, luncheon musical entertainment by some very talented staff members have added to the festivities.
Brian served as the adjutant general’s clerk and driver for many years. His service began with Maj Gen Alexis Lum and continued into Maj Gen Robert Lee’s tenure. Brian passed in 2014.
Leighton retired from the Hawaii Army National Guard as a Command Sergeant Major. He went on to serve as the protocol officer for Governor Lingle for several years. He later moved to become the protocol officer at U.S. Army Western Command (WESTCOM).
