Hawaii Air National Guard Photograph

The 199th Fighter Squadron flew Phantoms from 1976 through 1987. This undated photograph show a Hawaii Air National Guard F-4C Phantom with a dark paint configuration. For a short period, Phantoms featured the 199th Fighter Squadron and 154th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron patches near the vari-ramp intake.

These aircraft had the full Hawaiian tail flash designed by Col Kurt Johnson. The tail flash design began when the squadron flew F-102 Delta Daggers in the 1960s.
