Before it became a digital Department of Defense website, printed copies Airman Magazine was published monthly. 

In the November 1978 issue, there was a lengthy article about the Hawaii Air National Guard. The photographs in the article feature several familiar faces from the past.

The magazine was first published in August 1957 as The Airman. The final printed edition was released on September 1, 2011, with its new digital format for September/October 2011 being simultaneously published.
