The Association of the United States Army recently sponsored the 2018 Na Koa Regatta at Fort DeRussy Beach. The race is a double-elimination, quarter mile race off the water of Fort DeRussy. There are up to 90 five-person teams, consisting of a wounded warrior or immediate family member (including Gold Star families); a combat veteran or immediate family member; a veteran or immediate family member.
Gervin Miyamoto served in both the Hawaii Army and Air National Guard. He retired as lieutenant colonel. He recently completed his term as the United States Marshall for Hawaii, appointed by President Obama.
