Blaine retired after serving the Director of Operations, 201 CCG, for many years. Pat transferred to Hq, Hawaii Air National Guard, and retired after several more several years of service. Mike’s civilian career led him to the continent, but he continued his military service. He retired as a colonel.

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) (formerly known as State Civil Defense) hosts an annual hurricane exercise Makani Pahili (Hawaiian for “strong winds”). This high-profile exercise focuses on improving Hawaii’s overall preparedness for the Central Pacific hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, and includes simulating a major hurricane that causes significant damage and loss of life.

This year’s statewide exercise was cancelled due to the activation of the emergency management agencies, county and state departments and the Hawaii National Guard in support of the Kauai and Oahu flooding and the Big Island Kilauea volcanic eruption events.
