Taps: Lynn Wakong Ching

Lynn Wakong Ching passed away on May 13, 2017 at the age of 70. He was the only son of Allen and Lydy Ching. Lynn graduated from Kalani High School, Class of 1963.

When Lynn’s Army National Guard unit was activated, he was sent to Viet Nam, as a member of Battery A 1st Battalion (“The Big Red One”), 487th Artillery (USARPAC). He held a rank of Spec4. After his return from service Lynn went to Tech school, then he joined Hawaiian Telephone as a switchman, where he was employed until he retired.

Lynn is survived by a sister, Letitia Tom of Issaquah, WA, and a nephew, Bruce Tom of Seattle WA.

A celebratory mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 2324 Omilo Lane, Honolulu, on Monday, June 5th, 2017, at 6:45 pm. Family visitation: 5 to 5:30 pm. Public visitation 5:30 to 6:45 pm. All we welcome. Private burial services will be held at Diamond Head Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017, at 10:30 am, for family and close friends.
