Taps: Gilbert Silva “Papa Gil” Sampaia

Gilbert Silva “Papa Gil” Sampaia, 87, of Hilo, a retired Hilo Hospital general maintenance department employee and a retired Hawaii Army National Guard sergeant, passed away on August 23, 2015. He was born in Hilo.

He is survived by wife Priscilla, sons Gilbert and Albert, daughter Brandi, brother Joseph, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 8:30-10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
