Check Six – June 1995: 154th Support Group Training Bulletin

Three 154th Support Group members met their promotions boards during the May UTA weekend.
MSgt John Botelho, 154th Mission Support Flight. John was the “owner” of the Military Personnel Flight’s computer. MSgt Botelho now is a member of the 154th Communications Flight.
TSgt Angie Fleenor, 154th Mission Support Flight. Angie worked in the IM function and her office was in the old mailroom in the hanger. Angie retired and relocated to the continent.
TSgt Derek Gaboya, 154th Civil Engineer Squadron. Derek was a Traditional Guardmember who always did a super job.
The Hawaii National Guard Association named Capt Jeff Wachter, 169th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron as the Outstanding Officer for 1995. The presentation was at the HNGA’s annual conference in May. Several days later, Jeff and a small group of the 169 ACWS members departed for an extended deployment in Saudi Arabia.
MSgt Colosse Eliapo, Jr., Hq 154th Group represented the State Department of Defense as the department’s nominee as the State Employee of the Year in the Professional area. Colosse passed away earlier this year.
TSgt Mark Ueunten, Communications Flight deployed with the 203d Air Refueling Squadron to Keflavic, Iceland. The 154th Wing’s KC-135Rs stood alert in support of the Icelandic Defense Forces and Mark documented activities as the video cameraman.
MSgt Stanley Heu, 154th Maintenance Squadron, and MSgt Annarene Blair, 201 Combat Communications Group just graduated from the Air Force Senior NCO Academy residence course. A very notable achievement for Stan and Anna because there were not too many slots for Guardmembers 20 years ago.
The Honolulu Police Department named SMSgt Gerald Minami, 154th Medical Squadron as their Reserve Police Officer of the Year. Between his regular job and serving in the Guard, Gerald still found time to serve as a reserve officer.
