199 FS patch 1

The first 199th Fighter (Interceptor) Squadron patch was designed by First Lieutenant Wade H. McVay, Jr.

The patch presented the mythical war god, ” Kūkā‘ilimoku,” a symbol of fearlessness, valor and strength in the heat of battle and truly represented the spirit of the 199th Fighter Squadron.

This patch was officially approved on October 11, 1951.
