Check Six: 154 CAMRON

Posted on Jun 20, 2014 in 1950's, 1960's, Check Six

Check Six: a pilot’s term meaning look behind you.

At the table from the left: Nick Teves, Lloyd Seki, Sancho Espina, Nelson “Nellie” Lee, unknown

Back row from the left: David Rodrigues, Mamaru “Mamo” Minami, unknown, Wallace Whang, George Padilla, Joseph Domingo

Retiree News emailed Brig Gen David Rodrigues to fill in the names in the old photograph.

Boy, you are resurrecting some really old stuff.

The guy sitting at the head of the table with the cigarette sticking out of his mouth is Sancho Espina. The guy to the left of Nick Teves is Lloyd Seki. The guy to the immediate left of Sancho is Nellie – but I don’t remember his last name. He was in the Armament shop. The guy in back of him was a flight line mechanic. Again I don’t remember his name.

I didn’t get my commission until 1963 and I had made MSgt before then. This would put this picture in the late fifties or early sixties.

It looks like we were in some kind of room that had a snack bar in the back. but I can’t place it.

Can anyone help with the two unknown in the photograph?
