Pane Mai Question: 8/22/2025 “Eyelash Standards”
Question for CSEL
Since the new blue book updates came out about beards, is there any traction on enforcing the eyelashes section?
A-5 states: “Eyelash extensions are not authorized unless medically prescribed”
See a lot of females still rocking eyelashes, even senior officers and commanders. seems like all the senior enlisted and senior officers have an issue telling them to show what is right for the lower ranked soldiers which makes everyone think it’s ok. at this point it’s very obvious people have them and i think it’s been going on for over a year. i listen to females talk openly about having them and keeping them on while working, to the point it’s a joke about grooming standards and they don’t believe they have to follow it at all.
Answer by CSEL
Yep, got it. I will share this concern with the MSC and G-Staff Senior NCOs to help enforce the standards, but I need your help too.
If you know me, I conduct subtle on-the-spot corrections whenever I notice something that doesn’t conform to regulation. As I assume you are probably a leader in the Army as well, I urge you to exercise the Army value of personal courage and help me out with on-the-spot corrections. If leaders within our ranks go straight to the CSEL via an anonymous platform instead of making on-the-spot corrections, we have much larger problems than eyelash extensions in our formations.
With that, go out and be the type of leader we need. Make those on-the-spot corrections and don’t forget to use tact. Aloha!
