Fort Hood, Texas- Company C, 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment of the Hawaii Army National Guard, which was originally scheduled to deploy to Iraq, is now on its way to Kuwait. The approximately 50 Soldiers from medium lift helicopter (Blackhawk, UH-60) unit are currently en route to Kuwait. The exact location in Kuwait will not be disclosed at this time. Their mission, general aviation support, has not changed.

The unit left their hometown of Hilo at the end of August to conduct training at Fort Hood, Texas in preparation for a nine-month deployment in support of Operation New Dawn (OND). With the drawdown in Iraq, C-207th has been redirected to Kuwait, but will still conduct missions under OND.

In Texas, they received updated briefs and training specifically tailored for Soldiers deploying to Kuwait.
