History of the Detachment 1, Company G, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment

The 3-126^th MEDEVAC can trace their lineage back to the 112^th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), with headquarters in Gardiner, Maine. In 2006, the 112^th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) was reorganized and re-designated as Company C, 1^st Battalion, 126^th Aviation Regiment. During this time the unit was call to federal service in support of operations in the Middle East on two separate occasions. The unit was then re-designated in 2016 as Company G, 3^rd Battalion, 126^th Aviation Regiment. With this reorganization, the unit had a detachment based in Washington, DC, which was reflagged to be based out of the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2019. The Detachment came with the addition of three more HH-60M’s and Support Personnel to make the second MEDEVAC DET within the HIARNG.

Both MEDEVAC units are headquartered at Wheeler Army Airfield. The MEDEVAC mission is to mobilize and deploy worldwide in order to perform Aeromedical Evacuation Operations and Flight Operations within an AOR. Conduct medical resupply, transport of medical personnel, sling load and rescue hoist operations, multi and single-ship (day, night, and night-vision devices) to supported Units. On order, they provide National Guard Domestic Operations (NGDO) support. In FY19:

• Conducted post-deployment Yellow Ribbon event July 13, 2019
• Deployed ISO Operation Inherent Resolve from June 2018 – May 2019.

Detachment 1, G 3-126th, Aviation Regiment (Det 1 Co. G, 3-126th AVN)

Commanded by 1st Lt. Sarah-Anne Jordan and Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Hinkle. This training year, Det 1 Co. G, 3-126th AVN personnel backfilled sister unit flight crew and mechanic vacancies during their combat readiness center rotation to JRTC, Fort Johnson, La. This tasking included cross-country flights to and from the training center and aircrew member and mechanic support throughout the rotation.

The personnel played a critical role in extinguishing three wildfires that spread across Maui Island, one on O‘ahu at Mililani Mauka, and two on Kaua‘i during the summers. Aircrews flew dozens of hours providing aerial water drops, while other unit soldiers worked tirelessly to support.

Detachment 1, G 3-126 crews participated in interagency domestic operations with the Coast Guard off the shores of Kaua‘i. Search and rescue efforts were conducted in the summer of 2024 in conjunction with the Coast Guard.

Headquartered at Wheeler Army Airfield. The MEDEVAC mission is to mobilize and deploy worldwide in order to perform aeromedical evacuation operations and flight operations within an area of responsibility. Conduct medical resupply, transport of medical personnel, sling load and rescue hoist operations, multi and single-ship (day, night, and night vision devices) to supported Units. On order, provides National Guard civil support throughout Hawai‘i.

• Team MEDEVAC unit personnel supported the State Partnership Program for the Indonesian Army mission. The mission consisted of the orientation and capabilities of the H-60M Blackhawk Helicopter.
• Team MEDEVAC; Det 1 Co. G, 189th AVN and Det 1 Co. G, 3-126th AVN, unit personnel supported the Jungle Medicine Course, Jan. 24-25, 2025 in a joint, multi-component training exercise providing MEDEVAC support to their mass casualty exercise.
• Team MEDEVAC conducted a joint field training exercise during annual training at the HIARNG Regional Training Institute in June 2025. Executed MEDEVAC scenario-based training in support of the 227th BEB annual training exercise in June 2025.
