History of the Medical Readiness Detachment

The Hawai`i Medical Readiness Detachment was constituted on December 1, 1996, as Detachment 4, Headquarters State Area Command, Hawai`i Army National Guard at Fort Ruger, Hawai`i. Federal recognition was granted on March 6, 1999. The unit was reorganized on December 28, 2001. The unit was relocated to Kalaeloa, Hawai`i on June 9, 2005. The unit was redesigned and designated as the Hawai`i Medical Detachment on September 1, 2009. The unit was redesigned and designated as the Hawai`i Medical Readiness Detachment on February 25, 2021. The unit has a vital role in providing the Hawai`i Army National Guard integrated medical capabilities dedicated to mission accomplishment and individual Soldier readiness for mobilization and deployment.
