01 MAR 2019 The 298th Air Defense Group was federally recognized.

August 3rd 2019 the 298th Air Defense Group was activated. The 298th Support Squadron was activated as well and 169th Air Defense Squadron was reassigned to the 298th ADG. This move is in an effort to better align the Hawaii Air Guards organizational structure with other Air Force organizations.
