Significance

Ultramarine Blue and Air Force Yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The sun at the top of the emblem embodies an eternal source of energy and guiding star, continually orienting the unit forward. The warrior chief shows the unit’s long-standing ties to Hawaii, ancestral kingdom and warrior ethos of Kamehameha. The crossed Koa wood spears with shark’s teeth symbolize the unit’s devotion to duty and protection of the U.S. homeland.
