HAWAIʻI ARMY NATIONAL GUARD HONORS WWII SOLDIERS FROM TORPEDOED SHIP
What: Hawaiʻi Army National Guard’s 299th Infantry Regiment-U.S. Army Transport Royal T. Frank Memorial Unveiling
When: Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Where: Keaukaha Military Reservation, Lt. Col. Henry S. Hara Armed Forces Reserve Center, Hilo, Hawaiʻi
Who: Family members of those Soldiers who were on the USAT Frank, soldiers from the 1st Squadron, 299th Cavalry Regiment
Details: There will be an unveiling of the 299th Infantry Regiment-USAT Royal T. Frank Memorial, in honor of the Hawaiʻi National Guard Soldiers torpedoed onboard on January 28, 1942 in Hawaiian Waters. This memorial is dedicated to their sacrifice and to the “Torpedo Gang” survivors who honored their comrades’ memory.
