HING History, Units

The new Hawaiʻi Army National Guard MEDEVAC can trace it’s lineage back to Charlie Company, 7th Battalion-158th Aviation Regiment, Oregon Army National Guard’s MEDEVAC unit headquartered in Salem Oregon. In August of 2016, C Co 7/158th redesignated to Golf Company, 1st-189th Aviation Regiment in Salem, Oregon, this new unit designation came with the addition of three more HH-60Ms and support personnel that would become Hawaiʻi Army National Guard’s newest aviation detachments to make up the MEDEVAC. The MEDEVAC is further structured under the Montana Army National Guard’s 1st General Support Aviation Battalion, 189th Aviation Regiment, headquartered in Helena, Montana.

Unit Insignia

The patch is representative of all Hawaiʻi Army National Guard MEDEVAC Detachments and to the State of Hawaiʻi.

The white background symbolizes the purity of the lifesaving mission of the MEDEVAC, serving others before self.

The Red Cross is representative of the medical community that our unit has joined the ranks of and identifying amongst the aviation community as a MEDEVAC Unit.

The tribal warrior mask and “Warrior DUSTOFF” name represents the Hawaiian Warrior spirit while also reflecting the Army warrior ethos, both of which the unit will respect and honor with each mission that is performed. Always performing the MEDEVAC mission with the integrity, veracity, and fortitude of a true warrior.

The Black border represents the circle of life and is to be a constant reminder to always honor those Heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
