Fold a Crane. Share a message.
Inspire a community.
The Messages of Hope crane display is a powerful community awareness initiative that brings together the Hawaiʻi National Guard and wider community to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health. This is a visual display of thousands of hand-folded origami cranes, each carry a message of encouragement and represents our shared commitment to building a suicide-safe community.

#cranesforhopehawaii
Inspired by the tradition that 1,000 cranes symbolize healing, hope and a single wish; our display stand has a collective voice saying: You ARE NOT ALONE. Whether someone is navigating grief, healing, or simply looking for connection, the crane display serves as a reminder that we show up for each other-visibly and meaningfully.
This effort began in 2023 and will return in 2025 with an even bigger presence on the second floor of the Navy Exchange Mall during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month (September). With over 3,000 cranes folded previous years, our goal is to grow that impact and continue creating spaces that radiate hope, healing and connection.
