Brigadier General Arthur “Joe” Logan was confirmed as the Adjutant General of the Department of Defense in a unanimous vote on April 2.

“Brigadier General Logan has excellent credentials and has demonstrated a high level of understanding of the State’s emergency management and homeland security needs,” said Senator Will Espero, Chair of the Senate Public Safety, Intergovernmental, and Military Affairs committee. “His years of military service, accomplishments, and leadership experience indicate that he is capable and ready to serve as the Adjutant General in peacetime and during times of emergency.”

A member of the Honolulu Police Department for 20-years, Brig. Gen. Logan has a total of more than 30 years of military and law enforcement experience. Since 2013, he has served as director of operations for the Hawai’i Army National Guard. Prior to his National Guard position, he held positions as both the chief of staff of the Hawai’i National Guard and as chief of staff of HIARNG.

Brig. Gen. Logan has received a variety of awards, including Legion of Merit, United States Army Bronze Star, United States Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Humanitarian Medal.

Additionally, Brig. Gen. Logan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Justin Administration from Hawai’i Pacific University and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

Colonel Kenneth Hara was also confirmed by the Senate on Thursday. Col. Hara was most recently chief of the Joint Staff for the HING. In the past, he has served as commander of the 29^th Infantry Combat Team, HIARNG.
