Brigadier General Gary M. Ishikawa
Posted on Jan 27, 2025 in HING History, PeopleBrigadier General Gary M. Ishikawa was appointed as the Deputy Adjutant General, Hawaii Army National Guard on January 1, 2003. As the Deputy Adjutant General, he serves as the Deputy Director of a diverse organization which encompasses both the Hawaii Army and Air National Guard; the State’s Office of Veterans Services; and the Hawaii National Guard’s Youth Programs which include the Youth Challenge Academy, a residential mentorship program and “Operation About Face” for at-risk youth.
Brigadier General Ishikawa’s military career began on May 23, 1971 when he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant thru the Army’s ROTC program. Prior to his appointment as the Deputy Adjutant General, Brigadier General Ishikawa served in a variety of command and staff officer positions in the 9th Regional Support Command, United States Army Reserve.
