Kuhinia Maui and the County of Maui host memorial events on the second anniversary of the 2023 Maui wildfires. Reservations are requested for the Noon Gathering at Kalana O Maui in Wailuku and the Memorial Tribute at Lahaina Civic Center Amphitheater. Volunteers are needed. Paddle Out at Hanakaʻōʻō Beach Park, 7 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Paddle Out for surfers and paddlers. Spectators may watch from shore. Vehicle parking is at the Lahaina Civic Center with shuttle service provided to the beach.

Paddle Out schedule:

7 a.m. – Shuttles begin service

9:30 a.m. – Program begins

11:15 a.m. – Return to shore; Music by Na Leo Pilimehana

1:30 p.m. – Pau

Lahaina Memorial Tribute at Lahaina Civic Center Amphitheater, 5-9 p.m. “Pay tribute and give honor to the 102 beloved members of our community who perished in the August 8th tragedy. An event to offer comfort and strength as a resilient community comes together in remembrance, reverence and fellowship. Out of respect for the community’s desire for sensitivity and dignity, this event is not for media attendance.”
