SGT Drew M. Scobie Memorial Services set

Memorial services for Hawaii Army National Guard soldier Sgt. Drew M. Scobie will be held at Hawaii Memorial Park Chapel located at 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Viewing will be from 8:30 am-10:30 am with service to follow. Celebration of life lunch will take place at Senator Fong’s Plantation & Gardens, 47-285 Palama Road, Kahaluu, at 2:00 pm. Aloha Oe scattering of ashes will be observed on Sunday, February 16, 2014, Makapuu Beach Park at 8:30 am with paddle out at 10:00 am. Members of the community who wish to pay their respects are invited to attend. Military uniform for the memorial service will be “Class A” or service equivalent. For civilians, aloha attire, or other appropriate dress is recommended.
Scobie was one of three Americans killed in an aircraft accident in eastern Afghanistan on Jan. 10, 2014. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion/487th Field Artillery in Wahiawa. Sgt. Scobie was a Fire Direction Operator for the artillery battalion. He had volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan with Det. 55, which is currently providing reconnaissance and surveillance for International Security Assistance Forces in Afghanistan. Det. 55 was mobilized on Oct. 8, 2013 and deployed to Afghanistan later that month.
Sgt. Scobie is survived by his wife (McKenna) and son (Duke), parents, and many extended family members. His wife is expecting their second child in June.
