Mental Health Awareness Month 2025

Since 1949, the United States has observed Mental Health Awareness Month each May to raise awareness about trauma and its effects on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children, families, and communities.

Take action for yourself

Taking steps to care for your mental health can create a lasting, positive impact.

  • DIY Mental Health: Small actions can spark meaningful change. Whether you’re establishing a routine, practicing mindfulness, or discovering new ways to nourish your spirit, these self-help resources can empower you to take proactive steps toward greater well-being.
  • The Power of Boundaries: Setting boundaries is often one of the most impactful steps taken to support mental health. Strong, healthy relationships begin with clear boundaries — let us help you build them.
  • Fitness, Food, and Mood: What you eat, how you move, and how you care for your body can greatly influence your mental well-being. By making small adjustments — such as preparing healthy meals, staying active, and practicing mindful breathing — you can improve both your mood and overall health.
  • Healing Through Creativity: Creative expression is a powerful means of healing, whether through writing, art, music, movement, or any other form. It helps process emotions, provides a sense of purpose, and offers a healthy outlet during challenging times. Creativity is a vital form of self-care!
  • Rest and Reset: You can’t pour from an empty cup. Rest goes beyond just sleep (though that’s certainly important). It’s about giving yourself the time and space to recharge. Taking breaks, carving out moments for relaxation, and recognizing when to step back can help prevent burnout and enhance your overall well-being.
  • Starting Treatment: Beginning mental health treatment can seem daunting, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. There are resources to guide you through your options, from finding the right provider to understanding insurance.
  • Support Beyond the System: Not every mental health journey is rooted solely in traditional treatment. A holistic approach includes support from your community, peers, and even animals. Peer support, workplace accommodations, and social connections can be just as vital as therapy or medication. There are countless ways to nurture your well-being — discover what works best for you and make it a regular part of your life.

Take action for all

Mental health is a personal journey and a collective movement — and you don’t have to be an expert to make a meaningful impact.

  • Action Through Advocacy: Your voice matters. Policymakers and elected officials need to hear from you about the critical need for mental health resources and support. We’ve made it simple to get involved — because real change happens when we speak up together
  • Giving Back: Whether through volunteering, fundraising, or donating, giving back is a powerful way to drive change. By supporting organizations dedicated to mental health and community wellness, you help ensure that more people gain access to the resources they need. This May, wear green, get involved, and join a movement that makes a real difference.
