The 3-126th MEDEVAC can trace their lineage back to the 112th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), with headquarters in Gardiner, Maine. In 2006, the 112th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) was reorganized and re-designated as Company C, 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment. During this time the unit was call to federal service in support of operations in the Middle East on two separate occasions. The unit was then re-designated in 2016 as Company G, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment. With this reorganization, the unit had a detachment based in Washington, DC, which was reflagged to be based out of the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2019. The Detachment came with the addition of three more HH-60M’s and Support Personnel to make the second MEDEVAC DET within the HIARNG.
