Chief Master Sgt. Robert S.K. Lee III Biography

Chief Master Sergeant Robert S.K. Lee III, is the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Hawaii National Guard. In this position his responsibilities include advising the Adjutant General on all enlisted matters affecting training and utilization, health of the force, and enlisted professional development of Hawaii National Guard Soldiers and Airmen.

Chief Master Sergeant Lee was born at Johnson Airbase, Japan, on February 4, 1960.  In the summer of 1980, he graduated from James B. Castle High School in Kaneohe, Hawaii. His military career began shortly after when he enlisted as an Airman Basic/E-1 in the Active Duty Air Force February 11, 1980. He completed Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, and Satcomm/Wideband Technical Training School at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi in the spring of 1980. Following completion of his technical training, Chief Master Sergeant Lee was assigned to the 2049th Communications Group at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, California as a Satcomm/Wideband technician.

Since then Chief Master Sergeant Lee would serve as a Satcomm/Wideband technician at the 1957th Communications Squadron at Wheeler Air Force Base, Wahiawa, Hawaii. In January 1987 he palace chased to the Hawaii Air National Guard assigned to the 169th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron where he entered the “full-time” air technician program in 1990 as an Electronic Mechanic assigned to Mt. Kaala Air Force Station. He was selected as the Radio Maintenance Supervisor in July 2000 and then became the Maintenance Superintendent in 2003 which is his current full-time position. 

In December 2009, Chief Master Sergeant Lee was selected as the State Command Chief Master Sergeant of the Hawaii Air National Guard and Senior Enlisted Leader of the Hawaii National Guard. Chief Master Sergeant Lee has been a member of the HIANG Base Honor Guard program since 1998, and served as the State program’s Superintendent 2002 to 2006.  He is also a member of the Royal Guard, Head Coach of the Kahalu’u-Heeia Broncos Pee Wee Pop Warner football team.
