As I participate in the Change of Responsibility by passing the “Pahoa i a me lei mano” (Koa spear) that symbolizes the weapon used to defend the Ali’i and members of the kingdom of ancient Hawai’i, I know the responsibility to represent our enlisted warriors of the Hawaii National Guard will be in trusted hands. Chief Master Sergeant William Parker brings a fresh perspective steeped with an abundance of experience. He, no doubt will make this organization better than it ever was and is the perfect complement to our newly appointed leadership team of Brigadier General Arthur “Joe” Logan, our Adjutant General and Colonel Kenneth Hara, our Deputy Adjutant General.
Looking back at the last 5 years as your Senior Enlisted Leader of this phenomenal organization, I have witnessed some of the most extraordinary talents committed to the success of our National Guard. From Afghanistan, to the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Southwest Border, across the Continent of the United States and on our home turf here in the islands, you have all demonstrated day in and day out that the Hawaii National Guard is incredibly capable of executing our federal and state missions by exceeding the standards and expectations……..always. It is with great pride that I stood, representing our enlisted at every opportunity possible all while being your voice of concern when it mattered.
Reflecting on my 35 years of dedicated service, I can say that the moment I donned the uniform of the United States Air Force, I always put my community, state and nation first of which you all were a part of. It’s been an honor and a privilege serving as your enlisted leader. My sincerest best wishes to the continued successes of this great organization…..you truly are the brightest star amongst the 54.
