HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIER DIES ON OAHU

WAHIAWA, HI- A Hawaii Army National Guard (HIARNG) Soldier died this morning while on duty performing the Army Physical Fitness Test. He was an Active Guard/Reserve Soldier, meaning he works full time for the National Guard. He was a member of the Recruiting and Retention Battalion for the HIARNG.

The Soldier fainted while taking the physical test, he was treated by an on-scene medic and then transported to Wahiawa General Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 7:00 a.m.

Cause of death is unknown at this time. Although the family has been notified, the HIARNG will not release the name of the Soldier until the appropriate time to protect the family’s privacy. The HIARNG will assign a Casualty Assistance Officer to support the family during this difficult time.
