Important announcements:

FY25 Tuition Assistance Requests:

  1. ALL TA Requests for FY25 must be submitted and approved prior to 2000 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on 6 September 2025 due to the Army’s fiscal year closeout. This only applies to FY25 TA requests with a start date that occurs during FY25, e.g. 1 Oct 2024 through 30 Sept 2025. There will be no exceptions granted.
  2. Soldiers may continue to create TA Request for courses beginning in FY26, 1 October 2025 and beyond, between 60 – 8 days in advance of the term start date. Remember, FY26 requests are subject to the availability of funds.
  3. For additional questions, contact your Army Education Center.

FY25 Credentialing Assistance Requests:

IAW our annual FY closeout requirements, guidance for FY25 CA requests follows:

  1. Soldiers can continue to submit CA requests until 2000 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) 6 August 2025 through ArmyIgnitED for courses or exams that have start dates up to 19 September 2025.
  2. Soldiers will not have the ability to submit FY25 CA requests through ArmyIgnitED for start dates from 20-30 September 2025.
  3. Soldiers must submit CA requests through ArmyIgnitED at least 45 days prior to the start date of the course or exam.

Guidance for FY26 CA Requests:

  1. For additional questions, please contact an Army CA Virtual Counselor: https://www.cool.osd.mil/army/costs_and_funding/index.html?credentialingassistance.
  2. Soldiers may submit CA requests through ArmyIgnitED beginning 13 September 2025 for courses or exams that start on or after 27 October 2025 (not to exceed 90 days from submission). However, FY26 requests are subject to the availability of funds.

Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA): Offers up to $250 per credit hour for up to 18 credits each fiscal year, providing substantial support for your educational endeavors. Additionally, credential assistance of up to $4,500 per fiscal year is available if you are not using FTA. FTA and CA may be combined up to $4,500.

State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP): Covers 100% of tuition at community colleges and 50% at 4-year colleges within the University of Hawaii School system, making higher education more accessible and affordable.

Credential Assistance (CA): Up to $2,000 for certifications that covers classes, books, supplies, and exams. Pilot licenses are capped at $1,000 for all Army components. FTA and CA may be combined up to $4,500.

Montgomery GI Bill Select Reserve: Available to Soldiers who commit to a six-year contract, with Kicker benefits up to $350 for new enlistees, those re-enlisting, and commissioned Officers/Warrant Officers. This benefit may be combined with FTA if attending school at minimum of half time.

GI Bill Post 9/11: Benefits Soldiers on Title 10, AGR, and Title 32 National Emergency orders, with the option to transfer benefits to dependents after six years of service and an additional four-year service obligation.

Scholarships, Financial Aid, and Education Resources: A variety of scholarships, financial aid options, and educational resources are available to military members and their families, helping you achieve your academic and career goals whether you’re starting college, enhancing your credentials, or seeking financial assistance for your studies. Free tutoring services at Tutor.com and the opportunity to earn college credit through DANTES Programs and Services further enhance your educational experience.
