Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP)

Before you ship to Basic Combat Training (BCT), you will attend the Recruit Sustainment Program (SP). These weekends will be your introduction to BCT and will get you started and keep you on track mentally, physically, emotionally and administratively while you prepare for your career in the National Guard. You will learn the fundamentals of being a National Guard soldier. Your first RSP drill weekend will consist of learning the basics you will need to know right away, such as identifying rank and insignia, Army structure, reporting procedures, and more. After this introduction to the basics, your education in SP will progress to more advanced training modules. You can expect an SP weekend to consist of classroom time, physical fitness training, and mentorship from Drill Sergeants.

RSP drills give you an opportunity to start getting comfortable with the terminology and protocols that are part of National Guard service.

RSP weekends are paid training events. You will be paid according to your rank and time in service.

Your recruiter will advise you on the date, time, and location of your first SP drill weekend, and will be able to assist you with any questions or concerns regarding RSP.
