Chief Master Sergeant MaryAnn C. Martin

Chief Master Sergeant MaryAnn C. Martin is the Command Chief, Hawaii Air National Guard, Hawaii. As the Command Chief, she serves as the principal advisor to the Chief of Staff and Commander of the Hawaii Air National Guard as well as all subordinate Commanders and Senior Enlisted Leaders. She provides direction on Federal and State Department of Defense matters concerning operations, health, morale, welfare, personnel management and professional development for over 2,300 assigned Guardsmen across the 154th Wing, 201st Air Operations Group and the 298th Air Defense Group to enhance Total Force Association combat capabilities within the Pacific Theater.

Chief Martin provides strategic planning and operational oversight while advancing 5th-generation combat power, global reach and strategic airlift in order to defend Hawaii’s citizens, preserve peace, and ensure regional stability throughout the Hawaiian Islands during natural disasters and national emergencies.

Chief Martin began her military career in 1998 after graduating from Waipahu High School, Hawaii, and subsequently completing Basic Military Training and the Operations Resource Management Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. Her first assignment was with the 414th Combat Training Squadron “RED FLAG,” Nellis AFB, Nevada as an Aviation Resource Management Apprentice. In 2001, Chief Martin deployed with the 66th Rescue Squadron to beddown rescue operations in Afghanistan during OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. She then became the Noncommis-sioned Officer in Charge of Scheduling and Aviation Resource Management for the 549th Combat Training Squadron, “GREEN FLAG”, prior to her transition from the Regular Air Force to the Reserve component in 2006. While assigned as a reservist, she initiated the basis of the 926th Wing Aviation Resource Management program and was vital to the foundation of Air Force Reserve Component’s first dual-qualified Remotely Piloted Aircraft program.

In 2009, she oversaw Total Force Integration operations as the Superintendent, 706th Fighter Squadron promoting advanced tactics, testing and training with the United States Air Force Warfare Center, Advanced Test Group, Aggressor Tactics Group, 505th Command and Control Wing, The United States Air Force Weapons School and The United States Air Force Aerial Demonstration Squadron. In 2014, Chief Martin culminated her career with the Air Force Reserve as the first 926th Operations Group Superintendent leading 354 reservists across 40 specialties impacting mission objectives for three Major Commands and six Regular Air Force Wings to increase core continuity and combat lethality of the Total Force Enterprise. In 2018, she transitioned to the Hawaii Air National Guard and was assigned as the 201st Combat Operations Squadron Superintendent, overseeing integration of over 79 guardsmen spanning 12 specialties across the 613th Air Operations Center. Prior to her current assignment, Chief Martin served as the first Group Senior Enlisted Leader of the 298th Air Defense Group, Wheeler Army Air Field, Hawaii.
