SALARY: $33.46 to $39.01 per hour
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Title 32 Excepted Service – 1 Permanent Position
LOCATIONS: Army Aviation Support Facility No. 1, Hawaii Army National Guard, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii

RECRUITMENT AREA: Present Enlisted members (E-4 to E-7) within the Hawaii Army National Guard
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to operate and perform operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles to transport personnel, supplies, materials or equipment.
• Operates primarily straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds and/or truck tractors with semitrailers or full trailers to transport personnel or pick up and deliver supplies, materials or equipment.
• Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of material.
• May perform warehouse work to include issuing receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking material; and repairing or replacing items on equipment.
• May perform a variety of extensive servicing and light maintenance work on assigned vehicles.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months of experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience operating vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbent is required to work inside and outside and is exposed to all to all types of weather and traffic conditions. The incumbent is exposed to the possibility of serious injury from traffic accidents or while handling heavy equipment and supplies.
MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709.
COMPATIBLE MOS: 91B, 92F, 15-series
Other Requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
3. The work requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver’s license is mandatory.
*4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

6. This is a National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership.
7. This is a Testing Designated Position TDP. The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the states, territories, and the district cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
NOTES TO CANDIDATES:
a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor.
b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses may be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard.

m. Selectee may be scheduled for formal training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within the first six months of employment. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, failure to complete National Guard Bureau prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment, may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of employment.
