Split Training Option

The Split Training Option (STO) lets you split your BCT (Basic Combat Training) and AIT (Advanced Individual Training) between two summers. This allows for high school juniors, high school seniors, current college students, and seasonal employees to continue their education or employment without breaks.

To qualify for the STO, you must meeting the following criteria:

  • be classified as a high school junior or senior, a college student, or a seasonal employee
  • enlist for the 6X2 or 8X0 contract
  • ship to BCT within 270 days of enlistment
  • remain fully eligible through AlT ship date
  • choose an MOS which is authorized for STO

The following MOS’s are authorized for STO: 11B. 11C. 12B. 12C. 12K. 12N, 12. 12W. 13F 13J, 13M. 13R, 15P, 27D, 31B, 42A, 42R, 56M, 68W, 74D, 88M, 89B, 91B, 91D, 91L, 92A, 92F, 92G, 92L, 92W, 92Y

After enlisting, you would begin training with the Recruit Sustainment Program (SP) one weekend per month until shipping to BCT. After returning home from BCT, you would continue training one weekend per month with the SP until you ship to AT the following summer.
