Training

  • Receive the same training as active duty and reserves
  • Learn technical skills to use in civilian workplace
  • Choose a job from one of many competitive career fields, such as aviation, human resources, logistics, healthcare, and more

Education

  • Attend a university or vocational school of your choice
  • Receive state and federal tuition assistance to graduate debt free
  • Utilize the Montgomery GI bill and Montgomery GI bill kicker to assist with monthly living expenses (for more info on the above 3 items: visit nationalguard.com/education)
  • Receive college credits for your military training with your joint service transcript
  • Utilize free test prep resources and free exams (such as ACT, SAT, GMAT, and PRAXIS) through DANTES program
  • Pursue a certificate/license through the army credentialing assistance program. Examples of available certificates: private pilot, certified personal trainer, comptia security +

Adventure

  • CERFP (CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package): a quick response unit that assists in events of chemical, biological, radiological nuclear, and environmental events. Search and rescue teams: respond to emergency calls for lifesaving evacuation during natural disasters
  • Counter-drug operations: works with local law enforcement to counter the production and trafficking of illegal drugs
  • Air assault school: 10 day course that teaches rappelling and sling loading techniques with the use of helicopters
  • Airborne school: 3 week paratrooper course
  • Special forces/army ranger training: 63 week intensive course that teaches unconventional warfare
  • Mountain warfare school: intensive course that teaches high angle tactical combat and survival skills in mountain settings

Mission

  • Activate to assist your local community during major emergencies, such as wildfires, hurricanes, and pandemics
  • Activate to assist other states during their major emergencies
  • Activate to assist in peacekeeping with our allies overseas
  • Activate to assist the active duty military with deployment operations overseas
