Check Six – 1960s: Fighter Flightline

Hawaii Air National Guard photo

This photograph shows F-102A Delta Daggers on the flightline. As a reference, you can see the Navy watch tower which is still across the street next to the Operations Group building.

We estimate this photograph was taken in the early 1960s. The 199th Fighter Squadron received the Deuces in late 1960 and started flying them in 1961. The aircraft shown have “Hawaii Air Guard” markings. There are photographs dated 1964 showing Deuces with “U.S. Air Force” markings.

Additionally, there is no berm around the flightline. Some retirees remember the berm construction in the 1965-66 timeframe.
