As One Chapter Ends, A New One Begins

This drill weekend, we witnessed a very special retirement ceremony for Senior Master Sgt. Lori ‘Anu’ Lopez, who touched the lives of many throughout her career.

She most recently served as the first sergeant for the 154th Wing Staff Agency and 154th Operations Group, and served as the acting first sergeant for several other units, including 154th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 154th Mission Support Group and the 201st Air Operations Group.

As she said a hui hou to her brothers and sisters in blue, her son Xyon Lopez took the oath of enlistment continuing her legacy as he begins his career in the active duty Army. Growing up within the Hawaii National Guard Ohana, Xyon’s enlistment was officiated by Brig. Gen. Walter Ross, Director of the Hawaii National Guard Joint Staff.

We’re fortunate that the high standards of professionalism, hard work ethic and dedication to the job that she passed down to so many guardsmen will live on through Xyon and the next generation.

Mahalo for being an inspirational leader Senior Master Sgt. Lopez and congratulations Xyon!
