In the late 1970s, the 154th Fighter Interceptor Group exercised “bare base” operations. Saturday UTA began with a early morning recall. Selected maintenance and support personnel were processed and were flown to Barking Sands. The 199th Fighter Squadron would fly sorties in coordination with aircraft launched from Hickam AFB.

In this photograph are (L-R): Irvin Yoshino, Grant Suzuki, Glenn Furutaunknown, back of Clayton Yuen’s head, unknown, Jason Chun, and James Suzuki. They were on the Hickam AFB flightline, waiting for air transportation to Kauai.
