Check Six: 154 Wing Change of Command Ceremony – 18 years ago

Posted on Jun 1, 2018 in 2000's, Check Six

On September 9, 2000, the 154th Wing hosted a Change of Command Ceremony. Colonel Albert “Putt” Richards took command of the wing from Brig Gen Michael “Boss” Tice.

General Tice went on to serve as the Reserve Component Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM). He was promoted to major general and retired in 2003 after completing his active duty tour.

We believe he was the first of many Hawaii Air National Guard generals to serve tours at USPACOM.

Colonel Richards was promoted to brigadier general during his tenure as the wing commander. In 2003, he became the USPACOM Reserve Component Assistant as Maj Gen Tice retired. He was also promoted to major general and retired in 2006.
