Last month celebrated a milestone years in the making, the grand opening of the Daniel K. Akaka State Veterans Home in Kapolei. This 120-bed facility located across from the Kapolei Walmart, is more than just a building. It is a symbol of our commitment to caring for Hawai‘i’s veterans with the same dignity and respect they showed in service to our nation.
Named in honor of the late Senator Daniel K. Akaka, a steadfast advocate for veterans’ rights and aloha, this home embodies his legacy of compassion, service, and unity. Senator Akaka’s work to expand GI Bill benefits and improve the lives of service members lives on through every veteran who finds care within these walls.
Mahalo to the Akaka and Han ‘ohana, our veteran community, the people of Kapolei, and all who have supported this vision!
