After retiring from insurance Jim moved to Oregon where he started Nottage Cottage Construction. He was an avid fisherman, surfer, hunter and all round sportsman. He was a pilot and award winning woodworker. Later in life he became a keen horseman both in the saddle and driving road horses winning many championships across the mainland.
