Walter “Wally” Jack Poha, 74, of Hilo died May 2 at home. Born in Pahala, he was a retired head cook for Mauna Kea Observatories Support Services, Hawaii Army National Guard and Hawaii Air National Guard retiree and member of AJA, ILWU and HGEA bowling leagues.

Visitation 3-5 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral service at 5 p.m.

Graveside committal service and burial 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

Casual attire.

Survived by wife, Miriam Poha of Hilo; daughters, Natalie Poha and Tammy (Shane) Shibata of Hilo; brother-in-law, James (Dorothy) Burton of Hawaiian Beaches; sisters-in-law, Norma (John) Devine and Trinidad Burton of California; a grandson; nephews, nieces and cousins.
