TAPS: Mel Aurio

Mel Aurio, 67, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 19 at Kohala Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a light equipment operator at Kona Country Club, produce clerk at Sack N Save Kona, and a former SP4 of the Hawaii Army National Guard. Services to be held on Oahu at a later date. 

Survived by wife, Agnes Aurio of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Melanie Aurio of Kailua-Kona; hanai sons, Keokolo Paakonia of Waikoloa and Haloa (Melissa) Paakonia of Kalaoa; hanai daughter Maile (Bryan) Fukunaga of Honolulu; brothers, Francisco “Guy” Aurio; Randall (Joanne) Aurio; Grant (Carrie) Aurio, all of Honolulu; sister, Allyson (Gilbert) Kupau of Honolulu; half-brothers, George Nakahara of Nevada and Henry “Rudy” (Iris) Aurio of Honolulu; half-sisters, Cora Sanders of Florida and Charlene (Calmes) Pacyao of Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
