Taps: Wyman Wai Mun Au

Wyman Wai Mun Au, 85, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024 at home with his family at his side. He was the third son of Tai Hing and Violet Au.

He graduated from St. Louis H.S. (1956) and the University of Hawaii at Manoa (1960) in the first graduating class of the Meteorology Department.

He then served in the U.S. Air Force, charting winds and analyzing weather for Pacific operations. He continued his military service in the Hawaii Air National Guard for ten years as commander of the 199th Weather Flight, rising to the rank of Major. Wyman was a Federal Meteorologist for the National Weather Service for 43 years.

He was active in credit union leadership locally and nationally for 40 years. His greatest joy was serving God as a Bible teacher and missionary in Hawaii and in the Philippines.

Predeceased by his brothers William, Wilson, Whitlow and Willis, Wyman is survived by his wife Elizabeth ’Liz’ M.L. Chai of 62 years and children Wendell K.C. (Pohai), Winona W.L. (Patrick White), Willisa ’Lisa’ Y.L. (Lindsey Lau), seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and brother Wilkie (Noreen). Private services held.
