Taps: Vernon Fook Chin Lum
Posted on Jan 29, 2018 in TapsVernon Fook Chin Lum, 82, of Kaneohe HI, quietly passed away on Christmas Day, December 25th 2017 at Kina’ole Estates in Kaneohe. Vernon was born on January 10, 1935 at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu HI and was the only son to Alfred Chee and Elsie Kam Hung Lum.
Vernon worked as a salesman for Swift Premium Company and dutifully served in the Army National Guard. After 22 years in the military, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Vernon was the 4th generation Lum in Hawaii to continue the family produce business which distributed Chinese taro, luau leaves and locally grown lotus root (hasu) to local stores, supermarkets and restaurants. His ever present smile and happy attitude will be terribly missed by everyone who knew him.
Vernon is survived by his wife Lillian Lum, and his two sons, Wilfred Lum and Clinton Lum.
Services to be held at Valley of the Temple Cemetery on Friday, February 2nd, 2018. Visitation will be held in the chapel overlooking the cemetery between 9-10 am with services to begin at 10 am. Burial to follow at the Ocean View Terrace section of Valley of the Temple Cemetery at 11:30 am. Aloha attire requested. Arrangements provided by: Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary
