Gubernatorial Appointments: Happy to report that two Hawaii Air National Guard retirees nominated by Governor David Y. Ige were confirmed the State Senate yesterday. Both were confirmed with a 25-0 vote.

Edmund "Fred" Hyun

Edmund “Fred” Hyun as the Chairperson of the Hawaii Paroling Authority. His term will run to June 30, 2020.

Fred’s HIANG career spanned 23 years in the 201st Combat Comminutions Group. In his civilian career, he served over 31 years with the State Department of Public Safety in numerous key supervisory and leadership positions. He has an extensive history of volunteer work with various government and community agencies and boards.

Bridget Komine

Bridget Komine as a member of the Advisory Board on Veterans’ Services. Her term will run to June 30, 2021.

Bridget’s military career began in the Air Force as an air traffic controller. After she enlisted in the HIANG, she became a line recruiter. She later served as the HIANG’s Recruiting and Retention Superintendent. Her husband Howard served in the Air Force. Her son Brit flies with the 204th Airlift Squadron and is married to Regina (Berry) Komine.

Congratulations to both retired Hawaii Air National Guard members who continue to service.

Save the Date: The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), in partnership with the Annual Wounded Warrior Canoe Regatta is sponsoring the 2017 Hawaii Warrior Job Fair.

The job fair is set for Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Hale Koa Hotel, running from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

This free event is open to veterans, Guardsmen, Reservists, service members and their spouses seeking opportunities for employment or a career change.

The event will also include seminars on resume writing tips for Federal employment, general employment and interview tips. Veteran resources, along with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) volunteers, will have counselors available throughout the day to assist veteran and service members.
